1. Number of coronavirus cases rise to 114 in India

The Number of coronavirus cases rise to 114 in India as on Monday, March 16, 2020, which includes two fatalities and 17 foreigners as well as 13 people who were discharged after they recovered from the infection.

According to the WHO, Coronavirus has infected 1,53,517 people in 135 countries and claimed more than 5,700 lives.

2. DC Mon informs on Recruitment Drive

Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS in a circular informed to all interested unemployed youth (only females) between the age of 18-35 years under Mon District that PLS Autoshell Pvt. Ltd (under DDU-GKY) will be conducting a recruitment drive on March 17, 2020 at the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) hall, Mon for identifying candidates to undergo free placement linked skill development training (Government sponsored) in the field of Tourism & Hospitality.

Name of the course is Food Beverage Associate. Course duration will be 6 months in house training 1 month on Job training (only for female candidates).

The documents required are Identity proof (Aadhaar/Pan/Voters ID), ST & Indigenous Certificate, Birth Certificate, Education marksheet, Card: BPL/Job/Ration/SHG certificate, passport Photo (10 Nos).
The eligibility criteria should be 18-35 years old with minimum educational qualification of HSLC, rural indigenous youth of Nagaland who are ready to relocate for job placement anywhere in India.

3. AR conducted Medical Camp at Losami village

Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a free medical and check up camp at Losami Village, Phek, Nagaland on March 16, 2020. The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical consultation and treatment to the local populace of Losami village, devoid of requisite medical facilities. The medical team also visited houses of elderly who were too weak to attend the medical camp. Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases including precautions was also imparted. 42 Males, 32 Females and 39 Children benefitted from the camp.

4. Awareness cum Loan Mela held at Pongching

Mahila Shakti Kendra Longleng in collaboration with National Minorities Development and Finance Cooperation under Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) conducted awareness cum loan Mela on Micro Finance at Pongching village on March 16, 2020.

Phungla Phom, WWO MSK gave a brief information on the procedures for application and eligible criteria for beneficiaries while Dist-Coordinator, WWO, Ms. Tutitungla highlighted about BBBP, MSK, OSC and Women Helpline. Women Leaders from all the Self Help Group (SHG) attended the program.

5. Launching Programme of Self-Defense class for Adolescent Girls at Tuensang

The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao sponsored Self-Defense class for Adolescent girls launched at Town Hall Tuensang on March 14, 2020 with the Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant as the Special Guest.

The programme was attended by Administrative officers led by DC Tuensang, members of the Tuensang District Taekwondo Association led by President and adolescent girl students from GHSS Tuensang, GHSS Thangjam, GHS Chaba, GHS Hakushang, GMS Station-I and GMS Station-II.

Deputy Commissioner said that sports is an important element in life and one can be self dependent through sports. He encouraged the girl students to take up the self defense class with discipline and commitment.

Niamkoi District Coordinator MSK Tuensang highlighted on the core concept of BBBP while President TDTA and Lal Bahadur Ussuk GT Thangjam spoke on behalf of the participating schools. Taekwondo art on self defense was demonstrated led by Chief Instructor TDTA. Vote of thanks was given by Shelly Katiry, SDO (C) and Nodal Officer BBBP Tuensang.
