1. NSCN (KYA) AND ULFA(I) hideout busted along Nagaland – Assam border

Troops of Indian Army and Assam Rifles in an operation busted a hideout of NSCN(KYA) and ULFA(I) near Panikheti village in Mon District of Nagaland on Sunday, March 01, 2020. During the operation two cadres were apprehended along with arms and ammunition. The apprehended cadres and the recoveries have been handed over to police for further investigation.

2. Inauguration of footpath at Longsa village

Wokha Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) constructed a footpath of 282 x 4 metres spread and handed over to the residents of Longsa village, Wokha on March 3, 2020 in the presence of Village Council members, Gaon Buras, religious teachers and elders. The beaten track, besides being connected to the village cemetery, is a lifeline for the residents for fetching basic amenities and was a major concern, especially during the onset of monsoon. This initiative of the Army and Assam Rifles towards addressing a genuine requirement was duly appreciated.

3. Pungro town under Kiphire district to have a weekly market

A regular weekly market to help and promote farmers, local entrepreneurs and self-help groups and also to provide agri-linkage and marketing prospects to other markets and towns will begin from tomorrow, March Four in Pungro town under Kiphire district. The weekly market will also provide the public easy access to local produce and other basic commodities.
All interested persons or parties have been asked to take their products to sell at the weekly market for a nominal fee which will be charged by the executive committee for maintaining the market area.

4. Organizations at Kohima seizes liquor

The Khikha-Rüleizou Youth Organisation (KRYO) and Women Organization (KRWO) destroyed seized liquor below Industries Office, Kohima yesterday, March Two.
KRYO president Apele Suokhrie said, liquor worth 3.5 lakh rupees was seized and destroyed by the two bodies in presence of residents of the colony and students of Kohima Bible College. He said that in view of the unchecked and rampant sales of IMFL and local brews through ghumtis and residences in Khikha-Rüleizou Colony, Kohima, a joint operation was carried out by the two bodies of the colony for two consecutive nights and seized different brands of liquor from 13 shops and residences within the colony.

5. 3 days skill development training on food processing held at Pfutsero

The district administration and DLCW-Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, BBBP organized a 3 day skill development training on food processing at Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) in Pfutsero recently.
Altogether, 20 women from 10 villages within Phek district participated in the training. The objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge of self dependency and provide income generation skills for the rural women. Meanwhile, training on tailoring also commenced yesterday, March Two and will continue till March 14, 2020, a report by AIR Kohima said.

6. PM-Kisan Scheme: uploading of farmers in portal to be ceased untill further notification

As per direction from Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima in regard to PM-Kisan Scheme, uploading of farmers in portal should be ceased immediately from date of this notification till further orders. In a notification, as on March Two, by District Agriculture Officer, Tuensang, Shri Sanenpfu Maggie said, all concern Common Service Center of Tuensang district are informed to adhere with the notification positively.

7. The 11th Biodiversity Festival in Nagaland at NEN Resource Center, Chizami under Phek

As per an information recieved by NagalandExpress on March Three, the 11th Biodiversity Festival in Nagaland at NEN Resource Center, Chizami under Phek will be held on March 5-6, 2020. The guest of honors are: Secretary General, NPMHR, Nagaland, Shri Neingulo Krome & Advisor, IT&C, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy, Government of Nagaland, Shri Mmhonlumo Kikon. Key note speakers will be: Principal, District Institute of Education Training (DIET), Pfutsero, Phek, Government of Nagaland, Smti Atula Wai & Member Secretary & CCF (BR), Nagaland State Biodiversity Board, Government of Nagaland, Shri Supongnukshi Ao, IFS.

Highlights of the program: Exhibition & Demonstration including sales; special performances, quartet competition, inter school competition, folk melody, cultural performances, seed exchanges, cultural dances, etc.
In another notification on social media page, Shri Mmhonlumo had said that he is looking forward for this event. And it is being organized by North East Network (NEN), Nagaland Chapter.
