1. Restrictions on vehicular movement from Patkai Bridge to Kukidolong village.
All vehicular movement from Patkai Bridge to Kukidolong village to be restricted from 08:30 pm to 05:00 am for a period of one month with effect from March 3, 2020 for the purpose of smooth execution and speedy road construction work, said a press release from the office of ADC, Kohima on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
2. Digital mini soil testing laboratory launched at Longleng
Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland, today, February Twenty Nine held a Digital Mini Soil Testing Lab launching program at Longleng with DC, Longleng as special guest.
Speaking at the program, Deputy Commissioner Longleng, Shri M. Shayung Phom, informed about the importance, values and benefits of Soil Health Card based recommendation amongst the farmers in the District. As per a report by AIR Kohima, the DC also urged the concerned department to use the machine intensively and train the farmers to bring more benefits to them. In a keynote address, Soil Surveyor, Ridila Sangtam said the main focus of this is to help improve soil fertility and better crop production.
3. Ban on hunting imposed at Wokha from immediate effect
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Shri Orenthung Lotha has informed all concerned Village Councils under Wokha District to immediately impose ban on hunting of wild animals in their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect.
The DC stated that the direction comes as per the government’s directive declaring Public Health Emergency an International concern due to the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus in China and other parts of the World.
4. Dimapur Football Veterans retain 10th Edition of Nagaland Veteran Inter-District Football Tournament
Defending champions Dimapur defeated Mokokchung by a solitary goal in the final match to retain the 10th Edition of Nagaland Veteran Inter-District Football Tournament 2020 played at Mon town today, February Twenty Nine.
The tournament is being hosted by Mon District Veteran Football Association. The lone goal scorer came through the boots of Shri L. Supong Longchar, which proved to be decisive as Dimapur held on for a win. With the victory, Dimapur has now won the tournament for two consecutive years. The champion team Dimapur walked away with a cash prize of 50,000 Rupees, trophy, certificates and medal, while the runners -up Mokokchung received 30,000 Rupees along with trophy, certificates and medals. Semi-finalist Longleng and Wokha received 15,000 Rupees each.
Earlier, MLA and Chairman DPDB Mon, Shri E. Eshak Hessum, graced the occasion as special guest for the closing ceremony, said a report from AIR Kohima.
5. St.Joseph University, Dimapur conducts Ignite Fest
Management and Commerce Department of St. Joseph University, (SJU), Dimapur conducted ‘Ignite Fest’ on the theme “Defy the Odds” on February Twenty Eight with Director, Community Educational Center Society (CECS), Dimapur, Shri Subonenba Longkumer as chief guest.
In a press release by SJU, Dimapur on February Twenty Nine, it said that Shri Subonenba Longkumer, Director of Community Educational Centre Society (CECS), as the Chief guest inspired the students to have an attitude and a passion to learn faster and make their chosen careers more than just a job. The event took place at St Joseph University Auditorium and various colleges also participated in the event.
This Event inspired young minds and to give ones absolute best. The fest ended on a positive note. The overall champion was bagged by Unity College, Dimapur followed by Tetso College, Dimapur. It was an atmosphere of learning and growing together.
