1. Veteran Football Tournament to end on February 29

10th Nagaland Veteran Inter District Football Association 2020 Final match will be between Mokokchung vs Dimapur On February Twenty Nine, tomorrow, 10 AM at Local Ground, Mon town. Dimapur district is the current defending champion of said tournament.

2. Silver Jubilee, Nyengching Ward 2, Longleng town held

Today on Friday on Febuary 28, 2020, Nyengching Ward-2, Longleng Town celebrated its 25th silver Jubilee held at GPS Nyengching ward, Longleng Town. Chief guest was Shri M.Shayung, the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, Nagaland.

3. DC Peren informs on “International Women’s Day”

Deputy Commissioner Peren, Sentiwapang Aier has informed that under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Peren District will be celebrating “International Women’s Day” on 8th March, 2020 by conducting various awareness and sensitization programs and functions from 2nd March, 2020 onwards. The week-long celebration shall consist of different activities organized across all the sub-divisions of the district on the theme “I am Generation Equality”.

In this regard all the stakeholders in the district are therefore requested to extend their proactive co-operation during this auspicious week celebrating womanhood and the girl child, a report by DIPR.

4. Director of DIPR visits DPRO, Wokha on February 27

Director for Information and Public Relations, Shri Limawati Ao visited District Public Relation Officer (DPRO), Wokha and held a short interaction with the staff on February Twenty Seven, as per a report by DIPR. He apprised the staff to perform their assigned responsibilities with outmost sincerity. The Director also paid a courtesy visit to Wokha Deputy Commissioner, Shri Orenthung Lotha at his official chamber. The Director further inspected the ongoing construction work of announcement tower and LED display board.

5. Training for frontline workers under BBBP held at Peren

Training for frontline workers-AWWs & ASHAs under Beti Bachoa Beti Padhao (BBBP) was undertaken at Peren Town on 28th February, 2020 in convergence with District Administration Peren, Sakhi- One Stop Centre and ICDS Peren.

EAC Ngwalwa Rumbemo T. Kithan gave a brief highlight about BBBP, its functions and programmes. He encouraged the AWWs & ASHAs workers to be proactive in their work and also stressed on the responsibilities of AWWs & ASHAs which determines the health of the community.

6. Cleanliness drive on Single use Plastic at Pfutsero

A cleanliness drive on single use plastic was held at Pfutsero Town on February 28, 2020. The cleanliness drive was held under the initiative of ADC Pfutsero in collaboration with Officers Club Pfutsero division. The officers cleaned plastic waste in and around Pfutsero town. All the Heads of department of various departments at Pfutsero division participated in the cleanliness drive.

After the cleanliness drive, the monthly departmental co-ordination meeting for the month of February was held at ADC Pfutsero conference hall. Department of PWD Pfutsero and Horticulture Research Farm (HRF) presented their brief history, background of division and activities of the department, a report by DIPR.

7. DC Longleng bans hunting

In connection with spread of Noval Corona in China and other parts of the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an advisory declaring a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by asserting possibility of the virus transmission to humans from wild animals.

Therefore, the Deputy Commissioner Longleng, M. Shayung Phom has banned hunting of wild animals in any form with immediate effect. It further directed all the village council under Longleng district to give wide publicity and ensure enforcement of the order under their respective jurisdiction untill further order. Action shall be initiated as per the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 against the defaulters, report by DIPR.

8. DC Dimapur stressed on employment generation projects

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS convened a meeting of all HODs under Dimapur district on February 27, 2020, at DC conference Hall Dimapur in connection with the concept notes and projects under Iconic Projects, wherein the HODs under Dimapur district were asked to submit, for preparation of Iconic Projects under LADP. As requested many departments submitted their projects along with concept notes. In the meeting, DC Dimapur stressed on the need for projects concentrating more on employment generation.

According to DIPR report, It may be noted that the State Planning Board meeting held on 25th November 2019 sought for views and suggestions along with list of applicable projects under Iconic Projects from all the District Planning and Development Board.

9. Kohima Raiders finishes top in 2nd week of LirunaS Morning Premier League

Gameweek 2 of LirunaS Morning Premier League (MPL) ended today, February 28, 2020 at D-Khel ground, Seikhazou, with Unity FC beating Gazelle FC by a score line of 2-1. Ellem and Mele were the goal scorers for Unity FC while Mar scored the lone goal for Gazelle FC. At the end of week 2, Kohima Raiders have moved up 2 places in the league points table to finish at the top position with 6 points. As per a DIPR report, All Blacks are in second position on goal difference while Morung United FC are third with 4 points and Vanguard Old Boys have dropped down to 4th. Gameweek 3 will commence on 02nd March, 2020 where Merhulietsa FC will take on Getthemgo FC.

10. DSSU 2nd Annual Sports meet kicked off today

Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) kicked off their 2nd Annual sports meet starting today which will go on for two days, February 28- 29, 2020, under the theme “Speed, Determination, Strength and Courage” at Dimapur Govt.
