Kohima, April 21 (NE): News bulletin from various sources and press releases by NagalandExpress on April 21, 2020 are as follows:

1. Red Cross volunteers training held in Kohima

A training programme for the Red Cross volunteers was held recently at Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima where a total of twenty five (25) volunteers attended the training.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS gave a short word of encouragement to the participants and also urged them to give unrelenting support as and when need arises during this COVID-19 pandemic.

In the training, Dr. Hoito Chishi spoke on ‘Introduction on COVID-19’, Supongmenla Jamir, Consultant NUHM spoke on ‘District COVID-19 strategy’, Avikali Jakhalu, DPM Kohima gave a presentation on ‘District Microplan on COVID-19’ and Dr. Toshimongla QA(DPM) presented on ‘Doffing & Donning of PPE’.

2. Directorate of H&FW informs on mobile app

In order to facilitate surveillance to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, the department has developed a Mobile App known as “nCOVID-19 Nagaland Visitor’s App”.

In exercise of the powers conferred by the Nagaland Epidemic Disease (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020 under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and in the interest of public service, the following categories of contact persons shall mandatorily download the App from Google playstore and register:

-All inbound travellers entering Nagaland.

-All persons put on quarantine, either at home or institutional quarantine facility.

-All persons in “at Risk” contact with positive case, as indicated by mobile footprints.

-All persons in Contact Tracing Lists within the containment zone.

They are to “sign up” and update their sign/ symptoms status twice daily by 10.00 AM and by 7.00 PM till completion of quarantine period.

3. Naharbari Ao Union distributed relief packages to 40 families

The Naharbari Ao Union, Dimapur distributed relief packages to 40 families affected by the Covid 19-related lockdown on 20th April 2020. Each family in the area received relief packages comprising of 25 kilos of rice, one set of eggs, one litre of mustard oil and a packet of salt.The donors are well wishers from the Ao community residing in Naharbari.

4. Training on contact listing and tracing held at Mon

The district administration, Mon conducted one day training on ‘contact listing and tracing’ for COVID-19 district control room/ war room personal, police and front line workers on April 20, 2020.
Dr. Kumkiuba was the resource person for the training.

5. Speaker NLA highlights COVID-19 initiatives in video conference

Speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer participated in a video conference on April 21, 2020 with the Speakers of all the State Legislatures in India. The Conference was hosted by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla.
The focus of discussion during the Video Conference was the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the Country and the rest of the world. During his intervention, Speaker Longkumer shared with the other Speakers and the Speaker, Lok Sabha the various initiatives taken by the State under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, for containing the spread of the virus within the State.
