Kohima, December 11 (NEx): The President of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Convenor, Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI), Ghokheto Chophy passed away today, December 11, 2020.
Sources informed that Ghokheto Chophy had recently undergone a Kidney transplantation at Indraprastha Apollo in New Delhi.
Many condolences poured in from Ministers, Advisors and organisations, for the demise of the leader today.
Dy. Chief Minister Y. Patton in an official tweet condole the demise saying, “In Mr. Ghokheto Chophy, President of Naga Council Dimapur, Nagas have suffered a terrible loss today. A thorough gentleman and someone who’d lead from the front, Mr. Chophy’s untimely death has shaken and shocked us all. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace!”
The Advisor for Tourism, Art & Culture, H. Khehovi, condoles and said, “The untimely demise of the President of Naga Council, Dimapur, Shri. Ghokheto Chophy has left me stunned. A distinguished man who has done many good deeds for the Naga society. The void created by his passing away shall forever stay unfilled. May his soul rest in peace”.
Minister of Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along said, “Deeply saddened to know about the untimely demise of the President of Naga Council Dimapur, Shri. Ghokheto Chophy. He was a leader with a devoted sense of service to Nagaland & its people. His contributions in building the Naga Society will always inspire us. May his soul RIP”.
Further, Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) through a press release condoles the demise and said that it is deeply saddened to hear of the sudden demise of Shri. Ghokheto Chophy, President, Naga Council Dimapur and Convenor, JCPI. “His contributions and services for a good cause, especially for the denizens of Dimapur in particular and the whole society in general will be greatly missed”- unquote.
Also, Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN) in it’s condolence message shared that it is deeply saddened to hear of the sudden demise of Shri. Ghokheto Chophy, President, Naga Council Dimapur and Convenor, JCPI.
“In his demise, we have lost a good and capable leader who has always worked and stood for the rights and welfare of the people in Dimapur and the whole society in general”- unquote.
DDCF and Kachari Tribal Council Dimapur, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prays that his soul rest in peace.
