Kohima, April 13 (NEx): The No. 1 Nagaland Air Squadron National Cadet Corps (NCC) under the aegis of NCC Group HQ Kohima conducted Social awareness activity at Purana Bazar area, Dimapur today, April 13th, 2021, where, NCC cadets of Patkai Christian college, Eastern Christian College and Pilgrims higher secondary school participated.
The press release from the PRO (Def) informed that the event was conducted as a part of continuous effort by NCC, towards social service and community development programmes. The cadets carried out a plog run, and thereafter interacted with public and spread awareness regarding the hazards of plastic use, the PRO said.
In a social media update, it was informed that, 1 Naga Girls Bn NCC at Kohima organised a 20 plog runs today and 600 cadets in groups of 30 each participated, raised awareness on hazards of plastic & removed 80 kg of plastic from streets.
The PRO said that today’s event also marked the commemoration of the sacrifice made by our country men at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919 and the cadets reiterated importance of remembering the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.
The CO of the unit, Wg Cdr TS Singh stated that, “NCC being a youth based organization understands its social responsibility and plays an important role in nation building while, Brigadier K Venugopal SM, Group Commander NCC Group HQ Kohima congratulated cadets of No. 1 Nagaland Air SQN NCC for their effort and urged them to continue contributing towards such social causes and community development activities.
The CO also expressed his appreciation for the Principals of Patkai Christian college, Eastern Christian College and Pilgrims higher secondary school for their cooperation in making the event a success.
Further, it was informed that all Covid-19 precautions were strictly adhered to, while undertaking the activities.
