Dimapur, September 27 (NE): The Nagaland Bar Association (NBA) today, September 27, celebrated it’s Golden Jubilee at Exposition Hall, Agri-Expo, 4th Mile, Dimapur with Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio as Jubilee honoured guest.
Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of NBA in Dimapur, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that true essence of delivering justice by maintaining professional standards to uphold legal ethics is the most important role of the judiciary and the bar.
Chief Minister called upon the members of the legal profession to contribute towards the codification of our rich age old customary laws and practices. He said it is imperative to come up with written laws that are most commonly practiced and widely accepted by our respective communities.
Stating that today the state is facing many contentious issues such as Citizenship Amendment Bill, Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland, imposition of Inner Line Permit, the Chief Minister urged legal luminaries to seize the opportunity to come forth and get our priorities right from the legal perspective. He added that this is important not only for the legal fraternity or the government but for the Nagas as a whole and for posterity.
Further, Chief Minister also said the state government is committed to work in every possible ways to see that the state gets a separate High Court.
Retired Judge, Supreme Court of India, Mr. Justice H K Sema was the Jubilee speaker of the Nagaland Bar Association.
Jubilee candles was lightened by Jubilee Honoured Guest, Jubilee Speaker, NBA president, Convenor & Co-convenor, GJCC.
Later, the Chief Minister released the Jubilee Souvenir.
