Dimapur, August 19: The much anticipated Asia’s biggest youth football tournament “The Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2019” will see Nagaland Sub-Junior Boys (Under-14) team playing against Bangladesh in their opening match on Wednesday (21st August, 2019) at New Delhi.
A total of 37 teams are playing in the category of Sub-Junior Boys (Under-14), divided into 8 groups. Nagaland team is in “Pool – C”. Bangladesh, Haryana, CBSE, Team-15 are the other teams in the “Pool-C” group.
It will be interesting to see boys from Nagaland so as to bring laurel to the state in such international football event this time as well under the dynamic leadership of coach Mughato Sumi.
The Diamond jubilee edition of the traditional Indian Air Force tournament, the Subroto Cup will kickoff tomorrow, 20th August and will run till 18th September, 2019. This edition will see a record of 112 teams, including 16 international teams competing in Asia’s biggest youth football tournament. Teams are divided into three categories, the Sub-junior Boys (U-14), Junior (U-17) Boys and Girls.
The winner under Sub-junior Boys (U-14) category will take away cash Rupees Three Lakhs, while the Runner’s Up Rupees One Lakh Seventy Five Thousand; Semi and Quarter Finalists with Rupees Fifty Thousand & Twenty Five Thousand respectively including individual cash prizes for Best Player / Goalkeeper /Coach / School & Fair Play, etc.
Nagaland boys first match is at 08:30am on Wednesday (21st August) against Bangladesh at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi.
The U-14 boys’ finals will be played on August 29, at the Ambedkar stadium.
