Dimapur, December 3 (NE): Nagaland today December three celebrated International Disability Day in various districts.
To commemorate the World Disability Day, the Wokha District Administration, Wokha District Legal Services Authority, department of Social Welfare and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra organized a micro empowerment camp for the person with disabilities on 3rd December 2019 at Town hall, Wokha.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha in his inaugural address highlighted the facilities, services and rights available for the person with disabilities where he urged them to avail the opportunities of the schemes and programme introduced by the government.
Judicial Magistrate First Class and Secretary Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) while giving the keynote address, said, the WDLSA in collaboration with District Administration, department of Social welfare and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra main objective in observing this day is to increase and create awareness and understanding for the person with disabilities in every aspect of their life and to provide certain benefits available for them.
Sr.Supervisor, ICDS Erenbeni Kikon apprised the gathering about the welfare schemes for the disabled person, where State Coordinator UDID, Social welfare Akhihoto highlighted about Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).
During the programme Disability certificates were also issued, and registration of UDID was also done on the day and Legal Aid/assistance was also done.
Organized by Mokokchung District Disabled Forum, Care and Support Society, Grace Society in collaboration with Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, a programme in observance of International Day of people with disabilities was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung today (3rd Dec. 2019).
In the programme short speeches were delivered by the Special Guest, Society Director, Child Protection Services, Nagaland, Chubainla Jamir, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir, representative from Ao Senden, Executive Secretary ABAM Impur, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsungchanger and Mokokchung District Disabled Forum.
Significant of the Day was shared from Mokokchung Legal Services Authority, special number was presented by Cherubic Blossom and Mokokchung District Musician Association, Special Prayer for the PwDs was said by Pastor (NCRC) S. Daniel Ao while. Welcome note was delivered by Director, Grace Society, Razianlung Gonmei and vote of thanks was proposed by Managing Director, C&SS, Imchawati Kichu.
Commemorating the International Day of people with disabilities, another programme was held at CURE Foundation (A Centre for Differently Abled Persons), Aongza Ward, Mokokchung. Rev. O. Yashi, Pastor, Sūngkomen Baptist Church delivered a short speech and offered Special Prayer for the Special children.
Musical display, Dance and Special items were presented by the students of CURE Foundation and vote of thanks was proposed by Aienla.
