Nagaland issues SOP for reopening of schools

Kohima, February 02 (NEx): Following the notification of the Directorate of School Education, Government of Nagaland to resume regular classes for students of class 6th and above from February 8th, 2021, the Chief Secretary, GoN cum Chairperson State Executive Committee, J. Alam IAS on February 01, 2021, issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for reopening of schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The SOP includes generic preventive measures like physical distancing, use of face cover/mask, frequent washing of hands to be mandatory. The schools are to arrange seats with a distance of 6 feet between chairs/desks, etc. Also, prohibition of spitting and installation of Aarogya setu app is advised.

Before reopening, schools are to sanitize the work areas and frequently touched surfaces, and school entrances to have mandatory hand hygiene facilities and thermal screening provisions.

The SOP also prohibits assemblies, sports and events in the school. Cafeterias to remain closed in the campus.

Any violation of the provisions of the SOP shall attract strict action as per legal provisions against the management of the school/institute, the order from the Chief Secretary stated.
