Nagaland Hikes Taxes On Diesel, Petrol And Other Motor Spirit

Kohima, November 11 (NEx): The Government of Nagaland hikes taxes on diesel, petrol and other motor spirit with effect from midnight of November 11, 2020.

A notification issued by the Finance Department (Revenue branch), Government of Nagaland on Wednesday stated that the rate of tax on diesel has been amended from 14.5% to 17.50% or rupees 11.08 per litre, whichever is higher.

While, the rate of tax on petrol and other motor spirit has been amended from 25% to 29.80% or rupees 18.26 per litre, which ever is higher, stated the notification issued by the Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen.

The amended rate of tax shall come into effect from midnight of Wednesday, November 11, 2020 onwards, it stated.

The Governor of Nagaland in exercise of powers conferred by Sub-Section 3 of Section 3A of the Nagaland (Sales of petroleum and petroleum products including motor spirit and lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967 (as amended), notified the rate of tax as prescribed under the entry serial number 3 & 4 of Schedule II of the Act, the notification said.

According to IOC fuel price update on Wednesday, the prices in the State (Dimapur) stands at Rs 80.34 per litre for petrol and Rs 71.39 per litre for diesel.
