Nagaland Health Minister Launches COVID Vaccine For Age Group 18-44 Years

Kohima, May 17 (NEx): The Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom on Monday launched free Covid-19 vaccination for the age group 18-44 years.

Government of Nagaland earlier decided to vaccinate all the citizens of the state from 18 to 44 years of age free of cost.

Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom rolled out the COVID-19 Vaccine (Covishield) for age group of 18-44 years during an inaugural program held at the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare on Monday, May 17, 2021, in the presence of PD, SPO (UIP) and other Officials.

‘The Vaccination will be free of cost and persons who have registered in COWIN Portal will be benefited, Pangnyu stated. He also informed that registration for another phase will be announced soon.

Online registration is mandatory for the vaccination and people can register through CoWIN & Aarogya Setu app and there will not be any onsite registration, the Health department informed. It also said that the Identity Card used during the registration should be produced at the vaccine site.

Nagaland has an estimated population of 8 lakh citizens in the age group of 18-44. The State government needs 16 lakh doses of vaccine to complete two doses COVID vaccination drive for the said age group. The total cost for the vaccine alone at the announced price for COVISHIELD is estimated to be Rs. 64 crore.
