Nagaland govt. cancels Teachers Day 2020 celebration

Nagaland Govt. cancels observing 'Teachers Day 2020', in view of the detection of 7 days national mourning by the Govt. of India owing to the demise of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Former President of India.

Kohima, September 03 (NEx): Directorate of School Education, Government of Nagaland notified that the State shall not be celebrating/observing ‘Teachers Day 2020’, in view of the detection of 7 days national mourning by the Govt. of India owing to the demise of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Former President of India.

Following the demise of the Former President of India and Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee, on August 31, 2020 Government of Nagaland, as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, seven days state mourning was declared throughout Nagaland from August 31st, 2020 to September 06th, 2020 both days inclusive.

As the teachers day on September 05, 2020 falls under the national mourning period, Government has notified about the cancellation of the celebrations/observing of any program during this period.

Further, Principal Director, DoSE, Shanavas C IAS stated that the Teachers Day messages from the dignitaries may be issued along with the announcement of awardees through media.
