Nagaland Governor, Dy. CM condole the demise of Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir

Kohima, June 13 (NEx): The Governor of Nagaland, R.N Ravi, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Minister Temjen Imna Along and others condole the demise of noted Hindi scholar and litterateur, Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir, who passed away at his residence in Dimapur after a prolonged illness on Saturday, June 12, 2021. He was 87 years old.

Governor R.N Ravi in his condolence message said that Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir who was the Principal of Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Training Institute, the Nagaland based branch of Rashtra Bhasha Prachaar Samiti Wardha, did outstanding contributions in popularizing Hindi in Nagaland. He also helped Naga folklores and literatures reaching the rest of the country through Hindi. He was conferred with many awards in the field of Literature and Education including Padma Shri in 2018, Ravi said.

He said Jamir will go down in history for his contributions to the field of literature and a humanist intellectual who believed in universal brotherhood of mankind. In his demise, the Country has lost a noted Litterateur and a great thinker, Ravi added.

Further, the Governor on behalf of the people of Nagaland, conveyed heartfelt condolences and prays to God to give strength to the family to bear this tragic loss and grant them peace and solace at this hour of pain.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton extended heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Padma Shree Piyong Temjen Jamir.

‘In him, we’ve lost today a devoted social worker, noted Hindi scholar and littérateur. His contributions to the language and his tireless efforts to better society will always be remembered,’ – Deputy CM tweeted.

‘Deeply saddened to know about the demise of Padma Shree Piyong Temjen Jamir who passed away this morning’, tweeted Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along.

Imna said Jamir was a noted Hindi scholar & littérateur from Nagaland whose contributions to the state will always be remembered and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
