Nagaland Government urges Dimapur based border villages to maintain peace and harmony

Dimapur, January 4 (NE): Nagaland Government has asked villagers living in border areas with Assam to maintain cordial relationship with Police, Forest Department and public of Assam in order to live in peace and harmony.

According to a notification received here, the appeal was made by Adviser to Chief Minister of Nagaland for Border Affairs and Horticulture, Government of Nagaland & MLA, Shri Mhathung Yanthan, on Friday, January 3, during his visit to Indisen and Rilan villages in Dimapur district to take stock of the situation vis-à-vis border problems of the villages situated in border areas. He was accompanied by top officials from Dimapur including the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police, Dimapur among others.

As per media reports, Rilan and few other villages has said that Assam Government must work under the status quo, which is to be respected by both the parties under respective Governments in the region for maintaining peace. It had reiterated that they are well under the said agreement and must work on that line.

It is to be noted that bordering disputes has been going on for a long time; both the Government should work in tendem with the wishes of the citizens for a peaceful living, quipped a senior citizen.
