2. A message by Smti Vikali, Founder-Director- ‘We For Women’, Dimapur

Founder-Director- ‘We For Women’, Dimapur, Smti Vikali A Zhimomi on account on IWD, in a notification said, ‘Today from the bottom of my heart I wish each and everyone a very Happy International Women’s Day, Loud and clear with the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights“. Yet the voices most often heard are male voices in the house of high level political decision – making positions, while more than half of the global population are women and girls.

Gender-based violence is one of the gravest human rights violations globally. We have to take action to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls everywhere. We have to shift mindsets and attitudes to zero tolerance to all forms of violence, including sexual violence and sexual harassment. We must step up to challenge the actions and behaviour of others. Finally, we must end impunity. Attitudes and behaviours need to change, but we also need a justice system that ensures no act of violence goes unpunished.

Let us all voice together those rallying support to the rights of women and girls everywhere. These rights are our rights, and they are every girl’s and woman’s rights too. My Dear women and girls, whatever we do lets be different let us not imitate a man, be more ambitious, be preserving and trust ourselves and support.

Excellence is the best way to defeat sexism but never fear failure.
Dare and get what you want as an independent woman who does not let herself influenced by what others might think. Let us all join our hearts together, support each other and go forward to the higher level because when we reach on top it is never a rush.” – unquote.
