Nagaland celebrates 71st Republic Day along with the nation – Highlights

Kohima, January 26 (NE): Nagaland celebrates 71st Republic Day along with the rest of the country today, January 26, 2020.

The state level function of the 71st Republic Day was held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on 26th January 2020. Governor, Nagaland, R.N.Ravi unfurled the National Flag, took salute, inspected the Parade and also presented various categories of awards on the occasion. He also inaugurated the 15 exhibition stalls put up by various Departments as part of the Republic Day celebrations.

DIMAPUR:

The Dimapur district Republic Day celebration was held at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on 26th January 2020 with Minister for Forest & Climate Change, Law & Justice, C.M. Chang unfurling the National Flag and taking salute from 16 parade contingents.

Greeting the people of the state on the occasion Minister said that the day is to remember the founding fathers of the nation with gratitude for their enormous efforts and sacrifices for creating the Republic.

Stating that the nation, in over seven decades since become a republic, while remaining steadfast to the ideals of the constitution, have been successful in ensuring that the foundation of development are laid deep and wide, which has ensured positive changes in every sphere of the lives of the people, Minister said that the nation have made significant all round progress and the economic and political strength has continually grown to help put the country among the leading and influential nations of the world.

Chang said that the state of Nagaland which came into existence in 1963 as the 16th state of the union of India has also been striving to be a worthy participants to the nation’s quest for achieving equitable development while ensuring social, political and economic equality for all its citizens though the journey has not been without challenges owing to non-settlement of the Naga political issue for which the smooth and unhindered progress of the state on the path of development has been adversely affected. He however, said that the past few decades have been peaceful, and there has been an air of optimism which has help in providing the right kind of platform for planning and making attempts to move up swiftly on the ladder of development.

On Naga political issue, he said that the sincere efforts put in for the past many years is hopefully going to bear fruit as the negotiations of the government of India with all the various Naga political groups have concluded successfully in a positive manner. Expressing deep appreciation to all negotiating parties and civil society bodies and tribal organisation for their unwavering support, good wishes and cooperation which made all possible, he appealed to all Naga political groups and all stakeholders to be sensitive to the deep yearning of the people and continue with their sincere efforts to ensure that the solution is reached without any further delay.

Reminding the commitment of the government towards development and progress and to keep improving the quality of life of the people, Minister, pointed out the importance being given for developing the human resources of the state, stating that the children and youth need to be endowed with the beast of education and skills so that they would be in a position to utilize the opportunities meaningfully.

Considering road network as most important infrastructure for ushering in development, Chang, highlighted the improvement of road network by Nagaland PWD both from state funds and funds from NEC, DoNER, MoRD and MoRTH which are being built by central agencies.

Terming Power as another vital infrastructure, Minister felt the need to have sufficient and steady power supply for speeding up all the economic activities and also mentioned the 100% rural household electrification under Saubhagya Flagship programme of the government of India which is now undertaking various schemes for upgradation of both transmission and distribution lines for stabilizing and improving the power supply.

Urging the people to understand the significant transportation happening all around and make efforts to increase the pace of development taking all possible redial measures expeditiously, as not doing so may lead to miss out on economic opportunities as well as rapidly increasing the gap with other States, he called on the people to pledge to rise above all difference and unitedly make positive efforts for taking the state forward. Minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various government departments and agencies.

Highlights of the evening programme included volleyball match between Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Team and Commissioner of Police Dimapur Team, Tug of War between Dimapur District Lady Officers and Naga Women Hoho Dimapur and football match between Dobashis and GB union Dimapur. Beating of retreat by 5 Assam Rifles, Dimapur.

TUENSANG:

Along with rest of the Nation, Tuensang District also celebrated the 71st Republic Day at Parade ground Tuensang on 26th of January 2020. Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development was the special guest. The parade review of the event was done by Bharat Laxman Markad, SP Tuensang.

Ten Contingents took part in the republic Day Parade headed by I Bunglang Chang Dy.SP as Parade commander ABI C and Issak Chang as 2nd in Command. The Contingents included DEF Tuensang, VG Tuensang Village, VG Kuthur, Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Tuensang, SPC GHSS Thangjam, Bharat Scouts & Guides, 28th AR Pipe Band and 3rd NAP Pipe Band.

District Commendation awards were given to R. Akila Rothrong SDO (Agri), Ghokily Sema Asst. Nursing Superintendent DH Tuensang, M. Chelim Khiam Constable District Jail Tuensang and Thsathrongse Peon EE PHED Tuesang. While the Medical Award were also awarded to CHC Noklak, PHC Longpang and Sub Center Chingmei.

Bethel Orphanage home also participated with a dance in the republic day celebration.The programme also witnessed the cultural extravaganza by Chang, Khiamniungan, Sangtam and Yimchunger Dancing Troupes at the same time feeding of patients in hospitals / Visit to District Jail & Orphanages were conducted to mark the Republic Day celebration.

ZUNHEBOTO:

Along with rest of the nation, Zunheboto District celebrated the 71st Republic Day at Zunheboto public ground on 26 January 2020. Minister of Agriculture and co-operation G.Kaito Aye unfurled the national flag.

Highlights of the programme included parade by six(6) contingent led by 1st commander Kahuto, Assistant Commandant 8 NAP Naltoqa and 2nd Commander Taka Temjen, Inspector DEF Zunheboto. Prizes were given for best Community health center, best Public health center and Sub health center which were won by Aghunato, Suruhoto and Sapotimi respectively.

The programme culminated by beating of retreat by 32 Assam Rifles Zunheboto.

MOKOKCHUNG:

Mokokchung joining the rest of the country in celebrating the 71st Indian Republic Day (26th January 2020), the main function was held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung with Minister for PHE Nagaland, Jacob Zhimomi as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, the Chief Guest took the honour of ceremonial unfurling of the national flag. He also delivered the Republic Day speech and inspected the march past contingents under Parade commander, Lipoktemsu, A/C 2nd NAP Bn. Alichen and 2nd I/C ABI, sihusemou Angami SM RHQ, Mokokchung.

The Chief Guest also inaugurated the exhibition Stalls set up by different departments. Later in the day, an exhibition football match was played between HODs and All Ward Union, Mokokchung followed by Beating of Retreat.

LONGLENG:

In Longleng the 2020 Republic Day was celebrated with Neiba Kronu, Minister for Planning & Land Revenue & Parliamentary Affairs as the Special Guest on 26th January at Local Public Ground, Longleng.

The special guest read out the Republic Day speech where he congratulated all the negotiating Naga Political parties stating that Naga Political issue is hopeful for final settlement because the negotiation of the Government of India with all the various Naga Political groups has concluded successfully in positive manner.

Earlier the Special Guest unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from six parade contingents which comprised of the DEF Longleng, 12th NAP (IR) Chingtok, Village Guard of Longleng HQ & Orangkong, Village Guards of Hukphang, GHSS (Students Police Cadet) and Yingli College.

PEREN:

In Peren, the 71st Republic Day was celebrated at Deputy Commissioner’s Office, New Peren with Advisor for Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA), N. Bongkhao Konyak as the Special Guest.

The Minister unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade contingents, delivered the Republic Day speech and took salute from the seven (7) parade contingents comprising of 36th Assam Rifles (Band Platoon) Jalukie, DEF Peren, 9th IRB Saijang, NCC Senior Wing (Girls) Peren Govt. College, Sainik School Punglwa, GHSS Peren and All St. Hr. Sec. School Peren.

Other highlights of the daylong celebration included Cultural display by Kejanglwa Cultural Troupe and New Peren village; BBBP theme song & dance were performed by Nangkamlak Pame, Kitopungle and Poimi Students’ Union, Jalukie; melodious special number was sung by Shasinle Tep; Patriotic song/dance was presented by JNV Jalukie.

The 71st Republic Day was celebrated at Wokha local ground with Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways, Land Resources, P. Paiwang Konyak at the Chief Guest.

Addressing the people of Wokha on the occasion the chief guest said, the State has seen a steady rise in its road network over the years, which he consider as the most important infrastructure for ushering in development. Besides the roads being built by Nagaland PWD, both the State funds as well as from funds from NEC, DoNER, MoRD and MoRTH, there are many major roads, which are also being built by Central agencies.

Eight (8) parade contingents including pipe band from 40 AR took part in the march pass, the parade was led by Assistant Commandant 7th NAP Mr.N.Jami and parade 2i/c ABSI Mhabemo Ngullie.

Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S.Pangnyu Phom unfurled the National flag during the Republic Day 2020 celebration held at Local ground Mon Headquarter on 26th January,2020.

The Chief Guest received the Rasthriya salute from the contingents of 6th NAP BN Tizit, DEF Mon, Village Guards, Ex-Service Men, Konjong HSS NCC, DBS Bharat Scouts and Guides and 6th NAP Pipe Band. Parade Commander Asst. Camandant Tiamongba 6th NAP, Parade 2 i/c ABI Ngampong DEF Mon, Parade CHM Hav. Tankai DEF Mon, flagman Hav. Mayangmetong DEF Mon, Inspection car Naik. L.S. PHEK:

The 71st Republic day was celebrated in a grand manner at Phek Local ground on 26th January 2020 with Minister for Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum as the Chief Guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute where he also inspected the 11 parade contingents and thereafter the Republic Day speech.

In the celebration special acknowledgement was given to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, CHC Meluri, PHC Poruba and Sub-center Phek Village.

The Chief Guest also inaugurated 18 Exhibitions Stalls put up by various Departments and SHGs. National Anthem was presented by Kiddies corner school Phek.

KIPHIRE:

Along with the rest of the country, the 71st Republic Day was celebrated at public ground Kiphire on 26th January 2020 with Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, V.Kashiho Sangtam as the host.

Earlier national flag was hoisted in all government offices and Educational Institutions. The Minister reviewed the parade and unfurled the national flag and read out the Republic Day speech during the occasion.

NOKLAK:

The 71st Republic Day celebration at Noklak was held at public ground, Noklak with Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationary, H.Haiying as special guest. He unfurled the National flag and took salute from the parade contingents consisting of 3rd NAP, Waoshu VG, Langnok VG, Centre Pensioner Union, GHSS, CHS, St.Paul School.

SHAMATOR:

Advisor, IPR, SCERT & VG, Toshi Wungtung as the chief guest unfurled the tricolour during the Republic Day programme and read out the Republic Day speech. This was followed by march pass by Shamator town VG, Sangphur VG, Muleangr VG and Shamator College. Other highlights included Folk song by DB led by Topong DB, and pipe band display by 45th AR. Shamator.

TSEMINYU:

Tseminyu sub-division celebrated the 71st Republic Day on 26th January 2020 at RSA ground Tseminyu Town with Advisor for Power, Tovihoto Ayemi as special guest of the occasion.

The special guest unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute from four contingents groups led by parade commander ABSI Khakhu Sema of 4th NAP ‘B’ coy Tseminyu. He also inspected the parade contingents which was followed by Republic Day speech.

AGHUNATO:

The 71st Republic Day was observed in Aghunato with Extra Assistant Commissioner Vitoka Yeptho as the special guest. The function was held at the ADC office complex on the 26th of January 2020.

Greeting the public, the special guest stated that Nagaland has been a worthy participant in the Nation’s guest for achieving equitable development since its statehood. He appealed to all to take a pledge to rise above all our differences and unitedly make positive efforts for taking our state forward.

Earlier the Special Guest hoisted the tricolors National flag, and took salute from parade team, ‘C’ Company 8th NAP Aghunato, led by Mughato Havildar.

NAGINIMORA:

Along with the country, Naginimora celebrated the 71st R-Day at the ADC Office Compound. Renabomo Odyuo ADC Naginimora was the special guest who unfurled the National Flag followed by National Anthem by United Christian Higher Secondary School. He delivered the Republic Day Speech and took salute from 6 NAP ‘A’ Company.

PUGHOBOTO:

Pughoboto celebrated the 71st Republic Day at the ADC Office, compound, Pughoboto on 26 January 2020.The Tri colour National Flag was unfurled by the ADC Pughoboto, T.Moa Lemtor, took the Rastriya salute from DEF Pughoboto Jawans and also read out the Republic Day speech. Government officials from all the departments including, GBs, DBs, 11 IR D’coy stationed in Pughoboto attended the program.

Along with the rest of the nation Pfutsero celebrated the 71st Republic Day on 26th January 2020 at Pfutsero Town Sports Complex.

On arrival the ADC Pfutsero Phuleshe K Yepthomi unfurled the national flag, gave the rashtriya salute and read out the Republic Day speech. 5th NAP Church Youth Department presented a special song and folk song was presented by Mesulumi Mothers Group Pfutsero.

Along with the rest of the Country Longkhim Town observed 71st Republic Day Celebration at ADC Office Longkhim Town on 26th January 2020 with Kikumsangla Jamir ADC Longkhim as the special guest. She unfurled the National Flag, took salute and delivered the Republic Day speech.

JALUKIE:

The 71st Republic Day was celebrated at GHSS ground with Dr. Tinojongshi Chang ADC Jalukie Town as special guest. The Special Guest unfurled the National Flag with singing of National Anthem by students of JNV School Jalukie followed by Republic Day speech by the special guest.

MEDZIPHEMA:

Republic day was celebrated at Local Ground, Medziphema on 26th January 2020 with Advisor for Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio gracing the occasion as the special guest. He unfurled the National flag, took the Rastriya Salute led by Parade Commander ABI Lanutemsu Ao.
