Kohima, November 03 (NEx): Bye Election to 60 Pungro Kiphire Assembly constituency was conducted today, November 03, 2020 from 6:00 am till 04:00 pm. There were no untoward incidents reported from the polling stations except in polling station 11 at Singrep village, informed the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.
In the early noon, there was confusion and commotion in the polling station No.11 at Singrep village among the youth voters, so the polling was said to be disrupted and could not be conducted smoothly.
The polling officials had to stop the polling when the total number of votes cast at that time was not more than 20. Repolling is likely to be held for the said polling station for which the decision is still awaited from the higher authorities, stated a report from DIPR.
The 60 Pungro Kiphire A/C has 29,500 voters and 77 polling stations. There are five candidates in the fray for 60 Pungro Kiphire A/C By-election, one from BJP, one from Congress and three Independent candidates. Total percentage of votes cast today was 89.80% in 60-Pungro-Kiphire seat.
