Kohima, January 28 (NEx): Horticulture Department Tuensang inaugurated Mushroom Spawn Production Laboratory at its office in the presence of Dr. R. Elithung, Director of Horticulture on January 28, 2021.
The inaugural programme was attended by Bhupam Phom, Deputy Director Horticulture, HODs of Agri and Allied Department Tuensang, DRDA, ECS and by progressive Farmers of Tuensang.
Speaking at the programme Dr. Elithung mentioned that the installation is the 6th one in the state sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India and implemented by the department. He mentioned that mushroom cultivation is one of the most promising cultivations amongst the Horticulture activities, where less time is consumed for the cultivation and harvest. It is very nutritious, which is a best example of waste to wealth which can be cultivated for self-use and for economic productivity, he said.
The director also said that the Spawn production lab in Tuensang will be very beneficial for both the consumer and the producer.
Deputy Director Horticulture, Bhupam Phom in his short speech said that every interested individual can train and get the needed spawn for the cultivation on self-sustenance base and will be very helpful for the economic point of view.
DAO Tuensang, K Showuba said that it is indeed a good initiative for the farmers of the district and encouraged all the Agri and Allied Department to be pro active in bringing up such development in the district so that more progressive farmers can be born from the district.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Horti Inspector, Chemlila while the vote of thanks was given by Horti Inspector,C. Yongkonglimba.
