Mokokchung: Walkathon Organized To Observe Nation Wide Road Safety Month

Kohima, February 16 (NEx): A Walkathon was organized by District Road Safety Committee, Mokokchung on Monday, to observe the Nation Wide Road Safety Month.

The walkathon took place between Sewak Gate to Imlong Place Mokokchung and participants included Personnel of DEF Mokokchung, 23 Assam Rifles, NCC Cadets and Members of Run Mokokchung.

Addressing the participants at Imlong Place, Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vishal, IPS said that in India, thousands of people die every year due to road accidents, hence, road safety should be made a social movement.

He urged the participants to make a pledge to educate people around them on road safety and that everyone must come and work together to create road safety awareness so that many lives can be saved.

The Walkathon was flagged off at the Sewak Gate by the Commandant 23 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, Raj Kumar.
