Mokokchung Police Busted Inter-district Vehicle Theft Gang; 7 Held

Kohima, June 08 (NEx): Mokokchung police busted an inter-district vehicle theft gang and recovered 10 stolen vehicles from different districts in Nagaland. Seven persons were arrested in this connection, informed Mokokchung police on Tuesday.

Mokokchung Police narrating on the sequence of the incident leading into the arrest of seven persons said, one person was arrested at Aongza ward in Mokokchung, while trying to flee away with a stolen motorcycle on the midnight of May 25th, 2021.

In this connection, a case was registered and onn thorough investigation, the chain of events and modus-operandi committed by the thieves was detected through different ways and means by the investigating team and accordingly, 04 (four) co-accused were arrested from Wokha with assistance from DEF Wokha and 02 (two) others were arrested from Mokokchung, informed the Mokokchung police.

Arrested individuals are identified as Nzubemo (29 yrs) P/A: Chukitong, Wokha, Myanthung (27 yrs) P/A:- Chukitong, Wokha, Nchumbemo (27 yrs) P/A: Chukitong, Wokha, Amos (41 yrs) P/A: Tsumang ‘A’ Colony, Wokha, Kumar Chetri (35 yrs) P/A:- Aongza Ward, Mokokchung, Phyobemo (34 yrs) P/A:- Pongidong, Wokha, and Imnalemba (28 yrs) P/A:- Artang ward, Mokokchung district.

A total of 10 (ten) vehicles were recovered, out of which, 9 (nine) vehicles were recovered from Wokha and 01 (one) vehicle was recovered from Mokokchung. Recovered vehicles includes 02 (two) Gypsy, 03 (three) Alto, 03 (three) Maruti 800, 02 (two) Motorcycle, the police informed.

In this connection several cases has been registered under Police Station-I and Police Station-ll Mokokchung and further investigation is underway, it added.
