Minister Jacob Zhimomi inaugurates Nikhekhu Village Gate on its Centenary

Kohima, December 13 (NEx): In celebration of 100 years of the existence of Nikhekhu Village in Western Sümi Area, Shri. Jacob Zhimomi, Hon’ble Minister PHED, Govt. of Nagaland inaugurated the ‘Aphu Khagho’ (Village Gate) of Nikhekhu Village on December 12, 2020.

Nikhekhu Village under Dimapur district was founded by Late Nikhehu Zhimomi Ato Kukau in 1920 after British permit was issued by Dr. J.H Hutton CIE-I.C.S 1918-1935, informed a press release.

Delivering a short speech on the occasion, Minister Jacob reminded the gathering that pioneers toiled hard to establish a village and paying tribute to the elders, he called upon the people to honor the elders. He also said that achieving 100 years is a sign of maturity and we should live accordingly. Meanwhile, Zhimomi pronouncing his blessings, said that he wished more success for the village.

It was also informed that the Nikhekhu village gate was donated by the children, grandchildren, great
grandchildren and in-laws of Late Khukihe Ghunakha Yeputhomi in
commemoration of 100 years of Nikhekhu Village.
