Kohima, October 17 (NEx): The District Level Committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), Mon held its monthly review meeting on October 16, 2020 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, which was chaired by Shri. Thavaseelan K, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon and Chairman District Level Committee.
A press release from the DC of Mon said that the concept of the “Yes To Life“ Clubs is to engage the youth in various positive and constructive activities in an effort to keep them away from substance abuse. He informed the house about the constitution and function of the State level and District level Committees, as well as the aims and programmes of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and added that since the constitution of the District Committee in the month of August, the Committee has initiated various awareness activities and video lectures.
As per the guidelines, Mon District has also identified 26 (twenty six) Master Volunteers from various fields who will be trained and carry out various activities of the Abhiyaan across the District. Under this Campaign, Mon District has also activated a dedicated 24 X 7 Helpline for easy access to information, services and any kind of assistance. Various IEC material have also been developed in addition to a theme song for NMBA, Thavaseelan informed.
The District Level Committee is said to be collaborating with the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Banjum (KBBB) (Apex Konyak Baptist Churches Association) to form Youth Clubs in all the Villages and Towns of the District. The calendar of activities to be undertaken till March 2021 was also placed before the house for discussion and approval.
Thavaseelan reminded the house that Mon District is one among the only three Districts in Nagaland (among 272 Districts in India) along with Dimapur and Kohima, selected for this campaign and that all stakeholders should strive to take this opportunity and reap the benefits of this campaign.
