Peren, June 19 (NE): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZSUN) and Kuki Students’ Organization, Nagaland (KSON), expressed disappointment and exasperation over the discourtesy attitude and attention of the state government to the plight of the people of Peren district.

A press release issued by the Joint Office of the ZSUN and KSON, on June 18, 2020, said that anticipating discernment from ZSUN & KSON with no assurance and disposition is inopportune and an insult to the general public of the district. The plight of the district cannot be ignored and compromised at the level of discourse until our genuine demand is respected and obliged, added the release.

Further, the unions stated that the state government has tested the patience of the public enough and if the government is still convinced to play the same game, the public shall take its own course of action. If any untoward incident happen in future, the government is responsible for it.

The unions also reiterated that it will continue to endure the struggle till the government answer it’s demands.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, NCS, addressing the additional Chief Secretary & Commissioner, highlighted the minutes of the meeting held with the CSOs on the matter of the ultimatum submitted by the Zeliangrong Students Union, and informed that it ended inconclusively.

The meeting was inconclusive as the Civil Society representatives expressed unwillingness to cancel the planned rally unless the demands are accepted or action taken within a given time-frame despite the DC’s intervention, the letter said.

The organisation stated that they are not willing to withdraw the ultimatum to the government, citing various grievances and dissatisfaction with government’s response, and that any further talks will only be held at the state government level, wrote the DC of Peren.
