Matru Vandhana Saptah for Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers, launched today at Jalukie

Peren, December 2 (NE): Peren District officially launched Matru Vandhana Saptah on the theme, “Towards building a healthy nation- Surakshit Janini, Vikshit Dharini” on December, 2, 2019 at ADC Office, Jalukie Town. The launching program was organized by Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhan Yojana (PMMVY) in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Peren District and was graced by ADC Jalukie town, Dr. Tinujongshi Chang.
PMMVY District Coordinator Keyizieteing Ndang in his introductory note stated, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhana Yojana (PMMVY) is a conditional maternity Benefit Program which was implemented using the platform of the Anganwadi Centres and it came into effect in Nagaland in the year 2017. He mentioned the objectives of PMMVY Schemes which are to provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives so that women can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first living child and also to encourage Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) to seek an improved health and nutrition behaviour.

In his introductory note, he also went on to state that all Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) for their first live birth, excluding PW&LM who are in regular employment with the central or state government or public sector undertakings are eligible to apply under PMMVY Schemes in the nearest Anganwadi Centres. District Coordinator also highlighted the current status of PMMVY, wherein he stated a total number of 569 beneficiaries are enrolled so far within Peren District.

ADC Jalukie town, Dr. Tinujongshi Chang while launching the program requested the Department of Social Welfare and Medical Department to work hand in hand for the successful conduct of the progam and also assured full support from the District Administration. He further urged the line departments to widespread awareness about the PMMVY program even at the grassroot level.

Earlier the programme was chaired by Sakhi-One Stop Centre Case Worker, Peheilusile, while short speech was delivered by CMO Peren, Dr. Denis Hangsing and vote of thanks was proposed by CDPO Peren, Asangla.
