Kuda village writes to Deputy Commissioner Dimapur to take containment measures for BSF transit camp in the village

Kohima, May 11 (NE): The Kuda Village council wrote to Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, today, May 11, 2020 requesting to take pre-emptive measures in containment of COVID-19 for BSF transit camp at Kuda Village.

They mentioned that the existence of BSF camp at the village is causing fear and panic psychosis to the villagers after reports of media about the BSF jawans testing positive for COVID-19 in Tripura.

Sixteen people tested positive for Covid-19 from the 86th battalion headquarters of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Ambassa in Dhalai district in Tripura on Sunday, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 152, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said. This is the highest number of Coronavirus cases reported by any state in Northeast India.

Taking to twitter, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, “16 persons found COVID-19 positive in Tripura from 86th-Bn BSF (Official:1, Female:6, Children: 9). We are conducting max number of tests. 75 Samples from 3rd-Bn BSF tested but all reports are negative. Total active cases: 148. Transferred out: 02. Recovered: 2 (sic).”

In regards to the BSF Jawans testing positive for COVID-19, the Kuda Village Council urged the DC to take pre-emptive measures for the safety and interest of the village and the public in general.
