Kohima: Random COVID Test Among Taxi Drivers & Shopkeepers Shows 61% Positivity Rate

Kohima, May 08 (NEx): The Health Department on Saturday informed about the high COVID-19 positivity rate of 61% during the random sample testing conducted in Kohima. The random sample tests are still underway, it said.

The COVID-19 weekly bulletin on Saturday informed that, out of the 210 random samples tested among the taxi drivers and Shopkeepers, 128 sample results turned positive for COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 61%.

Highlighting on the categories of the random samples tested, the Health department said, a total of 122 random samples of taxi drivers were tested, out of which, 58 samples result turned positive for COVID-19 with a positivity rate of 48%. While, for 88 random samples tested among the Shopkeepers, 70 tested positive for COVID-19 with a positivity rate of 80%, the Health department stated.

Meanwhile, Nagaland’s active COVID cases reached 2711 with 333 new cases on Saturday, informed Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom. A total of 127 lives succumbed to COVID-19 in the State of Nagaland till date, Pangnyu added.
