Kohima Police Arrest Two ATM Operators For Stealing Rs 1.84 Crore

Kohima, March 23 (NEx): The Kohima police has arrested two ATM operators for fraudulent misappropriation of Rs 1.84 crore meant for replenishment of cash at ATMs in Kohima.

Two arrested persons identified as Mankai Konyak, 32 years and Santosh Khatri, 27 years, are employees of Ms Writer Business Service Pvt. Ltd., a cash replenishment agency for State Bank of India, and are working as ATM operators, Kohima police notified on Tuesday.

Kohima Police stated that, the preliminary investigation has revealed a shortage of cash amounting to ₹ 1,84,56,500/- (Rupees One crore eight four lakhs fifty-six thousand five hundred) from fifteen State Bank of India ATMs across Kohima Town. In this connection, a case has been registered at North Police Station and is being investigated by an Special Investigation Team led by SDPO(North).

In the course of investigation, Police also recovered an amount of ₹ 38,48,000/-(Rupees Thirty eight lakhs forty-eight thousand), police notified.

‘Further investigation is on to ascertain the modus operandi and involvement of persons in the fraudulent misappropriation of money meant for ATMs,’ a notification added.
