Kohima: One Store Room Gutted & Another Building Partially Damaged; No Casualty Reported

Kohima, January 13 (NEx): One Store Room was gutted and another RCC Building was partially damaged in a fire breakout incident at Lower Officer’s Hill Colony in Kohima on Tuesday, January 13, 2021. No casualty was reported.

Kenny Khing, R.O(E), Dept of Fire & Emergency Services, GoN, today informed that on receiving a Fire call from Lower Officer’s Hill colony, Kohima at 01:04 am on January 13, 202, Fire & Emergency Services team from Fire Station Kohima South proceeded to control the fire.

Accordingly, the Fire Tenders along with sufficient Equipments & Fire Personnel were pressed into action. One Store Room was gutted and one RCC Building was partially damaged in the inferno, Khing updated.

‘It took 20 minutes for the fire team to bring the fire under control. Due to timely information and response, the fire was prevented from spreading further to the surrounding buildings,’ he added.

Property worth Rs.3 Lakhs could be salvaged while Property worth Rs.1.6 Lakhs approximately was lost in the inferno. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The response team was led by Duty Commander S.I Sevi Kera and ASI Menose Zashumo, he said.
