Odd-even vehicle rule extended in Kohima till November 30; Deputy Commissioner of Kohima

Kohima, October 31 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A, IAS, has issued an order to extend the Odd-Even vehicle rule under the jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal areas, except on Sundays till November 30, 2020.

The DC Kohima stated, ‘in the interest of public safety and to minimize non-essential movement of vehicles and for better traffic management in Kohima Municipal areas, the ‘Odd-Even’ system for movement of private vehicles, including Public Transport (Taxis and City Buses), has been extended under the jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal areas, except on Sundays.’

Odd numbered vehicles:-

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, only vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (Eg. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) shall be allowed to ply.

Even Numbered vehicles:-

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (Eg. 2, 4, 6, 8, 0) shall be allowed to ply.

The prohibition and restriction of movement of vehicles will not apply to the Press and two-wheelers (without pillion rider), Vehicles carrying emergency Medical equipments, essential commodities, LPG cylinders and Oil tankers, Inter-State trucks carrying essential commodities bound for the state of Manipur.

DC also mentioned that all Permits/ Exemptions issued prior to the issue of this Order shall stand cancelled with immediate effect.

The violation of this restriction order will be liable to be penalised under Section 177 & 179 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and it shall be implemented with immediate effect and remain enforced till November 30, 2020 for the strict compliance of all concerned, it added.
