Kohima: Government Quarter gutted, property worth Rs.18 lacs lost

Kohima, December 12 (NEx): One Government Quarter was gutted in a fire incident that occurred at Middle PWD Colony, Kohima on Saturday, December 12, 2020, causing a loss of property worth Rs. 18 lacs.

The R.O(E), Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES), Kenny Khing informed that on receiving a Fire call at 11:23 am today, December 12, 2020 from Middle PWD Colony, Kohima, Fire & Emergency Services mobilized a quick response team from Fire Station South and Fire Station North to control the fire.

Khing reported that six (6) Fire Tenders along with sufficient Equipments & Fire Personnel were pressed into action.

One (1) Government Quarter, type-6 was gutted in the inferno and property worth Rs.18 Lakhs was lost. However, due to timely response from Fire Team, property worth Rs.30 Lakhs could be salvaged and also prevented the fire from spreading to the surroundings, he added.

Further, Khing said that the Fire Team took 1 hour and 3 minutes to combat the Fire. There was no casualty reported and the cause of fire is suspected to be due to electrical short circuit.

The response team was led by Duty
Commander, S.I Sevi Kera, S.I Keyirangsobe, ASI Dzesengutuo Keyho, and ASI Neitho-o Keditsu, he said.
