Kohima: District Coordinator of CHILDLINE Neingutuonuo Kulnu informed that Kohima CHILDLINE case intervention has recorded 500 plus till March this year since April 2015 of various category cases like medical, shelter, restoration, protection from abuse, children in conflict with law, sponsorship, child loss, parents asking help and emotional support and guidance.
Giving a PowerPoint presentation at the meeting of Kohima District Childline Advisory Board held at Deputy Commissioner’s office Kohima yesterday, Kulnu stated that CHILDLINE is an outreach service for children in need of care and protection and any child or concerned adult can dail 1098 to avail the emergency assistance.
Kulnu also informed that CHILDLINE covers street children, child addicts, abuse and mentally ill children, child laborers, children affected by disaster, HIV/AIDS infected children, differently-able children and trafficked children.
The Board meeting also held discussion on orientation for District Task Force Committee members on child labor and adolescent Act/formation of Quick Reponse Team, awareness and sensitization Programme on child related Acts with Doctors and Nurses at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima for better coordination.
The meeting also expressed the need for CHILDLINE to participate in District Crime meeting, incorporation of CHILDLINE message on Kohima Municipal Council footpaths, railings, hoardings and need for CHILDLINE rescue car for quick case intervention.
