Kohima, September 04 (NEx): The full text of the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s message on the occasion of Teachers’ Day is as follows:
“I extend warm greetings to the teaching community of Nagaland on the auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day that commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a distinguished philosopher, educationist and a teacher par excellence.
Teaching is one of the noblest professions, though a very challenging one at that. It does not merely involve the process of teaching a child from books but also of inculcating moral values and life skills. The impact a teacher has on a child is one that lasts a lifetime. In our country, ever since ancient times, the relationship between a teacher and his pupil has been one that is almost sacred- as a teacher has always been highly esteemed.
Today, as the whole world struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, the role played by teachers has also undergone a paradigm shift- and teachers have been compelled to use various communication technologies to reach out to students and impart education. As teachers face these new challenges, I exhort them to keep themselves updated with the latest technologies, information and teaching techniques, so as to better meet the high expectations of the students.
On this auspicious day, let us acknowledge the tireless efforts and sacrifices of all teachers. I wish them good health, joy, peace and successful careers.
Happy Teachers’ Day! – unquote.
