Jungle Fire Burnt Two Hectares At Medziphema

Dimapur, February 25 (NEx): An area of approximately 2 hectares were burnt out by jungle fire at Central Institute of Horticulture Medziphema, Dimapur on February 24, 2021.

The R.O (E) (F&ES) Kenny Khing informed that the Fire & Emergency Services received a Fire call at 2:39 pm on February 24, 2021 from Central Institute of Horticulture Medziphema, Dimapur.

Accordingly, F&ES team from Fire Station Chümoukedima proceeded to control the fire and Fire Tenders along with sufficient Equipments & Fire Personnel were pressed into action.

An area of approximately 2 hectares was burnt down but due to timely information and response, the fire was controlled and prevented from spreading further. It took the Fire Team 1 hour 30 minutes to combat the fire, the RO said.

The cause of fire could not be ascertained and there was no casualty. The response team was led by Duty Commander ASI Thangpong Khiamniungan, Khing added.
