JLF emphasizes on urgent accomplishment of early negotiated political settlement

Kohima, February 13 (NE): The Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) held its Consultative Meeting on the Naga Political Issue under the Chairmanship of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

While deliberating extensively on the Naga Political Issue, the Forum felt the need for urgent accomplishment of an early negotiated political settlement and in furtherance of the objectives, the Forum also decided to constitute a Committee, wherein, a Nominating Committee was formed.

The nomination committee members consist of the Speaker, Leader of Opposition, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Health & Family Welfare. The Nominating committee is entrusted to form a Core Committee comprising of elected Members irrespective of Party affiliations to urge upon the Government of India and all stakeholders for an early settlement of the Indo-Naga Political Issue. The Chief Minister also made an appeal to all Ex-Parliamentarians to support the effort of the Joint Legislators’ Forum for Naga Political solution.

Later, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio released booklets on ‘Profile Of Speaker & Deputy Speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly (1961–2018)’ & ‘Member Nagaland Legislative Assemby (A Comparative Study)’ Interim Body–13th Assembly.
