India won 2 Gold, 1 Bronze at World Archery Youth Championships 2019

India won 2 Gold, 1 Bronze at World Archery Youth Championships 2019. In the compound Junior Pair and recurve cadet women’s category India won Gold and 1 Bronze at junior compound men team.

Naga girl, Nikesa Sakhrie (13 year old) is among the 24 others who represented India at the World Archery Youth Championships 2019 in Madrid, Spain. Championship started on August 19 till August 25.

Indian Compound Junior Pair won Gold:

The Indian junior (U-21) mixed team of Markoo Raginee and Sukhbeer Singh scripted a history of their own as they won a gold medal in the World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid, Spain

The Indian pair beat their Swiss opponents in a closely fought clash 152-147, to claim the biggest honour on the day. It was also India’s first gold in this edition of the championships.

Komalika Bari won the recurve cadet women’s final:

Seventeen-year-old Komalika Bari beat Japan’s Waka Sonoda in the recurve cadet women’s final at the 2019 World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid to win her first major event and become the third Indian archer to hold a world title.

“My shooting was falling apart. That resulted in the eight. But then I knew I had to come back and I won the gold medal,” said Komalika. “I was just breathing very deeply so the tension went away. I told myself, ‘be confident, be confident and you will be the champion’.

Indian junior compound men’s team won a bronze

Sukhbeer helped India open their medal account when he teamed up with Sangampreet Singh Bisla and Tushar Phadtare to shoot a flawless final round and beat Colombia 234-231 for the bronze.

“It is a special day for me as it is my first international event. I will be shooting for a gold medal and I have already won bronze. I am so excited,” Sukhbeer said.

Naga girl, Nikesa Sakhrie won the first round which was against Anica Aucamp from South Africa at the World Archery Youth championship, Spain in Compound Cadet women category.

Second round, Nikesa lost In a closely fought clash against Elisa Bazzichetto from Italy and exit from the World Archery Youth Championships 2019.
