IIYF demands immediate action against erring healthcare workers at Satoi PHC, Zunheboto

Kohima, February 21 (NEx): The Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front expressed shock and sadness to discover the poor pathetic condition of Primary Health Centre, Satoi under Sub-division Satakha in Zunheboto, District after an emergency incident on Saturday.

The IIYF appealed the competent higher authority to initiate stern action against all the erring healthcare workers and make necessary arrangements for medical staff and allot medical requirements as per PHC provisions for public safety and security and carry out physical inspection, PHC Satoi within 24 hours.

The Ikiye Itovi Youth Front in a press release narrating an incident said that, “On Saturday, February 20, 2021, a Tata Sumo vehicle had an accident at around 2:00 PM between Itovi to Ikiye village Satoi area, where three persons including the Pastor and Women Pastress of Itovi village were seriously injured and another person had a minor injury”.

Immediately, the four people were rushed to the nearby Primary Health Centre, Satoi to avail first aid, including a Pastor who was unconscious for an hour in a serious condition at PHC Satoi.
However, it is shocking to learn that none of the Healthcare workers such as Doctors or nurses were present and only one lady, a proxy incharge was stationed at PHC, Satoi and not even a wokadine medicine was made available to stop constant bleeding and single dose of tetanus toxoid(TT) injection was made available to avail first aid when the patients reached the PHC Satoi who was battling for life, in a helpless and frustrated condition due to total lack of infrastructure and medical facilities and irregularities of medical doctors and Staff posted at PHC Satoi and the patients were shifted to Zunheboto.

In this connection, the Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front appealed the competent higher authority of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Nagaland and Chief Medical officer, Zunheboto to initiate stern action against all the erring healthcare workers and make necessary arrangements for medical staff and allot medical requirements as per PHC provisions for public safety and security and carry out physical inspection, PHC Satoi within 24 hours with effect from the receipt of this letter and urged the E.A.C adminstration Satoi block to look after the public affairs in public interest.

The youth front also warned that in the event of failing to meet the demands, the Ikiye-Itovi Youth Front would leave no stone unturned and would invite strict legal actions against the concerned department and IIYF will not be held responsible of any consequences.

Further, IIYF also prayed for the speedy recovery of all the families.
