IAF airdrops emergency medical consignment at Dimapur Airport today

Kohima, April 04 (NE): Indian Air Force Aircraft IL-76 MD airdropped 5 tonnes of medical load for Nagaland State Health & Family Welfare and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) at Dimapur Airport, today, April 04, 2020, said a report by DIPR.

Nagaland Chief Minister, Shri Neiphiu Rio said, we are proud to have one of our very own Indian Air Force officer, Wing commander, S.A. Jakhalu, VSM, Project Director (IAF) who has been instrumental in coordinating with the state government and Defence Ministry of India in bringing the much-needed equipments, tweets CM Rio.

IL-76 MD 44 Squadron Chandigarh base Unit landed at Dimapur at 04:00 pm with medical load. The aircraft further proceeded to Imphal at 05:00 pm with approximately 13 tonnes of medical load for Manipur Government.

This is the second consignment undertaken by IAF, in support of civil administration which is also a peace time role of IAF. The State Government thanked the IAF for the help rendered to Nagaland Government in the fight against COVID 19, it added.
