Houses gutted by fire at Mhasud stone crusher, Chumoukedima

Dimapur, May 02 (NE): Houses used as Labourer’s shelters at 7th mile, Mhasud stone crusher, Chumoukedima, was gutted by fire on Friday night.

However, there was no casualty reported due to this incident. The Fire and Emergency services on receiving a fire call at 08:21pm on May 01, 2020 from 7th Mile, Mhasud Stone Crusher, Chumoukedima, mobilised a quick response team from Fire Station Chumoukedima and rushed to the spot.

Three Fire Tenders along with sufficient equipments and Fire Personnel led by Duty Commander S.I Kenyuyhun Kent and ASI Thangpong Khiamniungan, reached the incident site at 8:44 pm, and the fire was contained within 40 minutes, said a press release from T. Shilu Jamir, Dy. SP, F&ES, Nagaland.

Two Kutcha houses which were used as Labourer’s Shelter were completely razed down during the inferno. Timely intervention of fire personnel managed to bring the fire under control and prevented from further spreading to adjoining areas, it added.

The cause of fire is said to be short circuit. Altogether 24 families (Labourers) were affected. It is reported that property worth approximately 10 Lakhs was lost in the fire incident, said the press release.

The deplorable road from Fire Station through the National Highway added to the difficulty to reach the incident site, which is just 8 km from the Fire Station, added Shilu.
