Kohima, November 07 (NEx): The Hornbill Festival 2020 is to be celebrated completely on virtual mode through various audio visual media channels and Social Media platforms, informed Nagaland Tourism Department through a DIPR report on Saturday.
This is the first time in the history of Hornbill Festival, that it is to be celebrated via a virtual program. The decision to go completely virtual was was taken by the Government of Nagaland considering the pandemic COVID-19 situation in the State. The content for the same will be sourced from Government archives, informed tourism department.
The ten day long Hornbill Festival also known as the ‘Festival of festivals’, organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture departments is celebrated every year from 1st of December at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama under Kohima district in Nagaland.
Earlier, a circular issued by the Tourism Department requesting allied departments to initiate preparation for the forthcoming Hornbill Festival 2020, came as a surprise for many people. Many organizations and bloggers came out against celebrating Hornbill Festival in the usual way amidst pandemic situation.
