Has Nagaland State Government been sidelined by the Government of India on the ongoing Naga Peace talks?

Dimapur, October 25 (NE): While the whole state of Nagaland is going through a very crucial phase of ongoing Naga peace talks, State government seems to be missing from the issue.

It is to be noted that, there has been lots of speculations going around through social media and had already created a panic atmosphere in the state. People of Nagaland is yet to hear from the state government on this issue. In fact, the silence from the Government is adding more to the speculation.

As an elected government, many feel that they have been let down by the state government. Speaking to NagalandExpress, many said, keeping silent at this crucial time phase is making them feel that the government is clueless on this issue. It also sent out a strong message that everything is controlled by the central government and the state government has been sidelined.

Leader of Opposition Nagaland Assembly, TR Zeliang came out strongly against the silence of the Government. He said through a release, that it is sending a wrong message as the deadline of October 31, 2019 approaches while reaffirming the stand of the NPF on this issue.

While Naga peace talks between the NSCN-IM and Government of India ends inconclusive on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at New Delhi, people of the sates are on their toes. It is also important to note, many students and Civic organizations has expressed disappointment over the non-inclusion of their organisations in the ongoing political talk.

It would be interesting to see how all these things will turn around in the coming days. Protests erupted from the neighborhing states has made this no more a state issue. It is also informed that the people of Nagaland is spending more time on Internet and social media this days driven by curiosity to get the latest updates. Though many wrong information and updates are also found in the Internet to add fuel to the fire.
