Kohima, April 02 (NE): The Government of Nagaland directs all the Deputy Commissioners to extend every possible assistance to stranded students in Nagaland, an official order issued by Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Shri Temjen Toy, IAS said, today, April 02, 2020.
In view of the lockdown, students from various towns residing in hostels and rented accommodations are facing problems in procurement of rations due to financial constraints. Further, Chief Secretary directed all the DCs to extend all possible assistance to stranded students. List of such students assisted may be intimated to Principal Director, School Education Department, Government of Nagaland, stated the order.
Earlier today, All Nagaland College Student’s Union (ANCSU) has written to Chief Secretary to highlight the plight of students against the Covid-19.
The letter written by President and General Secretary, ANCSU said, that students in rental and hostels are facing a hard time to buy their rations, some due to financial constraints, some due to the inability of their parents to parcel them their monthly rations at this time, some due to far away abode from grocery shops. The ANCSU requested the state government to include these students in their respective district / village / ward to be eligible to avail aid from the state government.
