Nagaland Government created 390 new posts under H&FW department to strengthen COVID-19 fight; Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom

Kohima, August 13 (NEx): The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom, during his Statement on COVID-19, informed the 6th Session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) that the State Government has created 390 new posts under Health and Family Welfare Department to strengthen the fight against COVID-19.

The new posts under the Department of Health and Family Welfare was created to strengthen its Human Resource in the fight against COVID and to reduce the shortage of technical manpower in the health sector, Pangnyu said.

These 390 new posts include 120 Allopathic Doctors, 3 Junior Dental surgeons, 11 AYUSH Medical Officers, 221 Staff Nurses, 6 Research Scientists for BSL Lab, 6 Laboratory Technicians for BSL Lab, 10 ECG Technicians and 13 OT Technicians. Pangnyu further informed the house that the recruitment for the newly created posts are under process.

About 542 doctors, 2065 nurses and various supporting staff under the department is involved in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and delivery of essential health Services covering 13 COVID-19 hospitals, 17 COVID Care Centre, 264 Quarantine Centre, 21 CHCs, 127 PHC, 396 SCs, 1 Mental Health Hospital, 2 TB&CD Hospitals across the State.

Health Minister also put on record the sincere appreciation and acknowledgement to all the Front Line Workers for putting in their selfless service in protecting the lives of the people of Nagaland since January end 2020 and said that it is still going strong.

The sixth session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, was adjourned sine-die after completing all business sessions listed.
