Free Street Library- 'Pick a Book' launched at Phek in Nagaland

Kohima, January 31 (NEx): “Pick A Book” a community based free Street Library, probably a first of its kind in Nagaland was officially inaugurated by Shri Zhoi Lohe SDO(C) Phek on January 30, 2021 in the presence of District administrator, Civil Society leaders, Head of educational institutions, students and well wishers at Mission Compound Colony Phek, Nagaland.

“Pick A Book”, a free street library contains a slew of books of different topics. The project is going to be a catalyst of creating an impact towards community building.

One of the key objective behind this project is to enhance the literacy rate in our state starting at the grassroots level by encouraging students community to read books by giving them easy access, affordable and availability of materials round the clock.

The initiative is also to encourage young people spend more time reading books and help them fight against the maniac of social media use, gaming addiction etc. The event was organised by the Mission Compound Colony Youth Association.
