Nagaland: Four extortionists arrested in Kohima, Nagaland reports Kohima police on Friday, June 19, 2020 while extorting money

Kohima, June 20 (NE): A crime update from Kohima police on Friday, June 19, 2020 informed the arrest of four (4) extortionists in different cases in Kohima.

In a first, a notification from Kohima police said, based on specific information about extortion of Manipur bound trucks by unknown miscreants along NH-29, a raid was conducted at Lower PWD Colony by Kohima Police at around 08:30 pm on June 12, 2020 and arrested one person identified as Viketouzo (37 yrs) S/o – Lt. Ruokuovolie, P/Add – Lower PWD colony, Kohima.

During the raid 16 (sixteen) mobile phones, 10 (ten) nos of GPRN work permit, one pistol, cash amounting to Rs. 12,120/- (twelve thousand one hundred twenty) and vehicle bearing registration number NL01C-4135 was seized, it said.

Another accomplice of the accused identified as Renpemo Tsopoe (24 yrs) S/o – Y. Ntsono Tsopoe, P/add – Midland colony, Kohima was arrested on June 17, 2020.

In a similar case, Kohima Police arrested two miscreants for extorting money from a construction site near NBCC Convention Hall, New Secretariat area and identified as;

Ase-o Kense (27 yrs) SS. Srgt of NSCN(U), S/o – Pfusiesa Kense, Village – Tuophema, PO/PS- Chiephobozou, P/Add- Phezouchz colony, Kohima, and, Mongchao Khiam (29 yrs) S/o – Yanso, Village – Nokhu, Tuensang, P/Add- Thizama, Kohima on June 16, 2020.

In this connection, criminal cases have been registered at North Police Station and further investigation is on, said the notification.
