Kohima, February 02 (NEx): The first ever Regional Level Online Philatelic Exhibition, NEPEX was held from January 23rd to 31st, 2021, organised by Chief Postmaster General, Circle, Shillong in association with the North East Philatelic Society.
Students from different North Eastern states participated in the exhibition among which six students from Livingstone Foundation International School, Dimapur, Nagaland actively
participated in different categories of the online held competitions like postcard Miniature Art competition, Speech Writing competition, Quiz and Collage Art Competition using stamps.
Consequently, two students won in separate competitions; Mr Gavin Sangma from Grade X received 3rd position in Collage Art competition and Miss Penyu Longchar from Grade IX secured 3rd place in the Postcard Miniature Art competition.
Apart from the students, Youths as well as Seniors took part in the various Competitive Class wherein Livingstone Chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema also took part in the Philatelic exhibition under the theme World War II Philatelic Vignettes along with other participants from across North Eastern states, where he won by 81 marks out of 100, making him the winner of the Vermeil Medal, the only highest medal awarded in the Open Class category, which is above Silver and large Silver medal. He was also awarded with a special prize by Deccan Philatelic
Department of Posts organizes philatelic exhibitions at all levels- National, Circle, State and District level as a part of its Philately Promotion Program. The idea to hold Philatelic Exhibition “Virtually” this year, has been evolved due to COVID-19 pandemic, which enabled the Philatelist to showcase their valuable collection of stamps and other related materials. Also, this platform is for school children who can participate in various competitions and prove their talent in various innovative fields.
