Dimapur: The excavation work of tunnel No.1 along a section of the Dimapur (Dhansiri)-Kohima (Zubza) new broad-gauge railway line, located at Chumukedima village has completed today.
The Deputy Chief Engineer of the Construction firm, V Haozer informed that the construction work for the tunnel measuring 140 metre in length which started in March this year has completed successfully, while, excavation work for another tunnel at Jharnapani area is in progress.
Haozer said the 82.3 kilometer Dimapur (Dhansiri)-Kohima (Zubza) railway line will have 20 tunnels measuring 26 kilometres.
He said by this December, the railway service between Dhansiri to Sukhovi is likely to be made operational.
The railway line will have eight stoppages- Dhansiri-Sukhovi- Chumukedima- Mulvom- Sirhima- Tsiepama- Mengujuma-Zubza, Haozer added.
The official further added that this railway line would bring the capital Kohima onto the broad gauge railway map of the country, as part of Indian Railways’ ambitious plan to connect capitals of all north-eastern states by broad gauge rail line.
