Ex-MLA Lungbe Meru passes away; CM Rio, TR Zeliang condoles

Kohima, November 28 (NEx): The former MLA of 7 AC Peren, Shri Lungbe Meru passed away at Christian Institute of Health Science and Research in Dimapur on Friday, November 27, 2020. Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang condoles the demise of late. Lungbe Meru.

Mr. Lungbe joined politics in 1964 and was elected as the first MLA of the 7 AC Peren. He also had genuine concerns for the Naga political issue that he along with 11 other MLAs of the Democratic Party of Nagaland resigned from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to seek a solution for the cause.

Apart from his career in politics, Shri Lungbe was also actively involved in Church activities. Lungbe served as Pastor and as Head Deacon at Zeme Baptist Church Dimapur and was a founding member of the church. He was a member of a committee involved in translation of Bible in Zeme dialect.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang in their condolence message said that the demise of Shri Lungbe has indeed created a huge vacuum not only for the Zeme community but for the Nagas as a whole.

Further, they convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family member and pray that God will give them strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss.
