Kohima, December 03 (NEx): While the ongoing indefinite democratic agitation called by the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) entered day three(3) of the 2nd phase today, which passed off peacefully and successfully, the federation said that it is appalled as the cabinet sub- committee cancelled the meet with ENSF at the last minute.
The ENSF in a press release today stated that it was appalled by the manner in which the cabinet sub-committee even after inviting the ENSF, cancelled at the last minute which shows how the government does not want to address the demands and buy time and also wants the federation to carry on with the indefinite agitation as the demand placed by the federation would not serve any purpose to the government.
The federation also stated that the second round of meeting with Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) as directed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister was held on December 02, 2020 convened by the commission along with Secretary, Commission member, Controller of Exam and Deputy Secretary of the Commission at NPSC office ended inconclusive as they have miserably failed to give a written justification and clarification to the issues raised by the federation pertaining to NPSC.
ENSF further informed that the proposed democratic indefinite agitation will continue in the entire Eastern jurisdiction until the demands are fulfilled.
While informing that the 2nd phase, day three (3) of the proposed democratic indefinite agitation passed off peacefully and successfully, it added that locking down of government offices and restriction of movement of government registered vehicles by the six federating units at respective head quarters passed off peacefully.
The students’ federation extended their gratitude to the six federating units for their continue support and cooperation for the cause and also appealed to all the eastern brethren to support and cooperate with the federation in order to
save the future of the coming generation.
Meanwhile, the federation also directed all the six federating units that the 3rd Phase of agitation will begin by locking down of District Administration office at all the five districts and at the sub- division office, while the restriction on complete government activities and others remain the same as per the directives issued.
It can be noted that the federation announced for an indefinite democratic agitation beginning November 30, against the state government untill the charter of demands by the students’ bodies regarding Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) regulation and the non-implementation of Personnel and Administrative Reforms by the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) is fulfilled.
